White Lies: Preview

Set in 1920s New Zealand, "White Lies" tells the story of Paraiti, a Maori medicine woman, and a white colonist who depends on Paraiti to hide a pregnancy that could destroy her position in the settler society. Paraiti must navigate colonial power structures, her beliefs about life and death, and her desire for justice in order to make a decision.
