Reexamine, Reclaim, Redefine: The Woman’s Film

“Reexamine, Reclaim, Redefine: The Woman’s Film” features three rare but significant short films about gender identity and women’s rights in the United States. Produced during the woman’s movement of the late ’60s and early ’70s, the documentaries are considered to be landmark contributions to the slight catalogue of films created about the daily lives of women

Films included in the program are “Betty Tells Her Story” (Liane Brandon, 1973), “All Women Are Equal” (Marguerite Paris, 1972) and “The Woman’s Film” (Louise Alaimo, Judy Smith & Ellen Sorin, 1971).

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Liane Brandon, Jim Hubbard, Judith Smith and Louise Alaimo, moderated by Siona Wilson.
