The Long Island International Film Expo marks its 21st anniversary this year with a robust program of independent films from around the globe. The lineup, which features 147 short- and feature-length films, includes a range of genres as well as music videos and webisodes. Highlights include the world premieres of Fred Carpenter’s “Dinosaur,” about a seasoned cop who faces off with a violent biker gang in his hometown while struggling with a troubled home life; Mara Bush’s “A Thousand Words” (pictured), about a woman who relies on a meaningful set of Polaroids to help her come to terms with a new, difficult reality; and Gregory Cioffi’s “The Museum of Lost Things,” about a man who wanders into a museum and discovers that every piece on view is something he has lost in his life. Panel discussions on such subjects as screenwriting, intellectual property and copyright law, and a “Directors Audition Panel” are also among the event’s offerings.
