Presented as a “counter-history to the testosterone-fueled New Hollywood Era,” “A Different Picture: Women Filmmakers in the New Hollywood Era” showcases women filmmakers who were creating films in the United States from 1967 to 1980, a time period in film history typically discussed through their male counterparts. Select highlights include studio productions by Elaine May, two films by Joan Micklin, Chantal Akerman’s films produced in the United States and a selection of short films.
