Bob Ross died in 1995, but his worry-free philosophy and bucolic paintings continue to captivate millions each year through reruns of “The Joy of Painting.” In the last quarter century, the show, which originally aired on Public Media from 1983 to 1994, has found a loyal base of viewers who rely on Ross’s soothing voice to relieve anxiety and provide a cure for boredom.
