In the latest episode of the ALL ARTS digital series “Broadway Sandwich,” actress and singer Arielle Jacobs took fans on a virtual tour of the “Aladdin” set and costume closet at the New Amsterdam Theater in New York City.
Jacobs, who recently released her debut album “A Leap in the Dark,” offered close ups of the beaded outfits and accessories that transform her into Princess Jasmine each night, noting that they were occasionally cumbersome but “beautiful.”
“The earrings are very heavy,” Jacobs told host and fellow Broadway alumnus Garen Scribner. “So, whenever I’m running, I actually hold on to them otherwise they hit me in the face.”
Jacobs also revealed that she was a huge fan of the Disney film iteration as a child. She performed “A Whole New World” during a 4th grade talent show, instead playing the role of Aladdin to her best friend’s Jasmine.
